Healing Retreats for Grief & Renewal

Grief Educator Certification Program

Naomi Sanderovsky, Ph.D.
Founder | Scholar | Grief Educator

Naomi is a grief educator, scholar of religion and philosophy, and the founder of ABCs of Wellness and Luma Via Retreat Sanctuary. With more than twenty years of teaching experience focused on death, grief, embodiment, and the human condition, she brings together academic scholarship, contemplative practice, and experiential learning in her work.

Her lifelong study of grief, consciousness, embodiment, and human healing led her to develop Living Grief Theory™, an integrative framework that approaches grief as an ongoing and deeply human experience rather than a problem to solve or overcome.

Drawing from somatic awareness, contemplative practice, philosophy, relational inquiry, and cross-cultural grief traditions, her work explores how grief is experienced through the body, relationships, identity, memory, meaning-making, and community. Through education, retreats, and community-based programs, she is committed to expanding grief literacy and creating more compassionate spaces for people navigating loss and major life transition.

Naomi’s work is also shaped by personal experience, resilience, and a deep respect for the intelligence of grief itself. Over the years, she has worked with students, caregivers, veterans, trauma survivors, widows, clinicians, and individuals moving through profound personal change.

She founded ABCs of Wellness, a 501(c)(3) public benefit nonprofit, to increase access to grief literacy, contemplative education, and holistic support services. Through scholarships, outreach initiatives, educational programming, and community partnerships, the organization brings grief-informed and somatic-based support to underserved populations, including schools, shelters, caregivers, and veterans’ programs.

Naomi also leads immersive retreats and practitioner trainings through Luma Via Retreat Sanctuary, where her teaching integrates embodiment, mindfulness, neuroscience, philosophy, and cross-cultural wisdom traditions.

Grounded, compassionate, and deeply present, her work invites people into a more humane relationship with grief — not as pathology, but as an enduring expression of love, memory, connection, and meaning.

Your contribution supports those who feel called to transform their experiences of loss into service for others — including, but not limited to, veterans, caregivers, educators, and community leaders who bring grief education and support to under-resourced communities.

ABCs of Wellness is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

All donations are tax-deductible and directly fund education programs that build a more grief-literate, compassionate world.

“I connected with a lot of my grief and trauma, and left feeling like I had powerful tools to heal and received a lot of messages that I needed.”
